State Meeting:
· All State Tournaments (all levels) have been changed to true double elimination format. This change will require all tournaments to start on Thursdays and continue for four days.
· State has changed the process for setting berths to all National and American level State Tournaments. Each District will be provided two berths per District Commissioner. As a result, CCJBA will automatically receive four (4) berths to each National and American tournament. Federal tournament berths will still be determined based upon the number of teams in each District (i.e. the current system).
·
State held elections for 2006. Following are the results:
President: Mike Zimmerman
Vice Pres.: Dave Terry
Treasurer: Greg Bender
Secretary: Gary Wilson
Members at Large: Todd Sonfleith, Bonnie Petty, Greg Klithrow
Non-voting Member: Chuck Eaton
· State reminded that the Invitational Tournament meeting will be April 5. Areas hosting tournaments should submit information via the State JBO website soon. Dave Kuhns will again be coordinating this effort for State.
· State noted that David Douglas and Sandy will be moving their youth baseball programs to JBO and will be playing within Tri-Co.
Federal Double-Elimination: Based on Area feedback last month, the CCJBA Board adopted the double-elimination format for all Federal level County Tournaments. This format requires a three day County Tournament with a full contingent of games on Friday.
State Application/Proof of Insurance: The State “Application for Membership in JBO” and Proof of Insurance were collected from Areas. Any information not provided tonight must be mailed to the CCJBA mailbox by February 27 (CCJBA, PO Box 1268, Oregon City, OR 97045). Areas not submitting the Application for Membership and Proof of Insurance by the due date will not be considered valid Areas by State, and their teams will not be placed in CCJBA league schedules!
County Tournament Bids: Bids from Areas to host 2006 County Tournaments were due tonight and were collected at the meeting. The CCJBA Board will select tournament sites at the March meeting.
Field Direction Updates: Updates to Field Directions are due next month. Areas should review the current field directions (in the 2005 County Book or posted on the CCJBA website) and provide written updates to Jeff. Areas should be sure to add directions to any new fields. If possible, Areas are asked to e-mail the written updates to Jeff prior to the next meeting; ccjbasec@comcast.net
Team Cards/Coach Contracts: Team Cards and Coach Contracts will be distributed at the March meeting. Teams Cards must be completed for each team that is to be placed in a CCJBA league schedule. The cards are due at the April 10 meeting with the applicable team fees ($85 per team). Coach Contracts must be attached to Team Rosters when these are submitted at the April 17 or May 8 meeting.
2006 CCJBA Calendar: The 2006 CCJBA calendar is finalized with the exception of dates/locations for the umpire clinics. The Board expects these to be finalized prior to the next meeting.
Area Bylaws: The CCJBA Board noted that Area Bylaws are overdue. Areas that have not provided copies of their bylaws to the Board must complete this task ASAP.
REMINDER - Invitational Tournaments: State has set the State Invitational Tournament meeting for April 5, at 7:30 pm at Oregon City High School. Areas that will be hosting invitational tournaments will need to provide tournament information (dates, levels, etc.) to State by March 5. Information should be submitted via the State JBO website.
Silverton JBO: It was reported that Silverton will be returning to JBO after several years absence. Representatives of Silverton attended tonight’s meeting and reported that they intend to field three teams within CCJBA this year: two Senior teams and one Junior team. Welcome back Silverton!
